During the past fifteen years, I have worked in the management and analysis of cultural diversity, poverty and childhood, human rights, social movements, global food issues and food trends.
My background is multicultural with interdisciplinary approaches to understanding South and North hemisphere food issues.
Applied food anthropology is the application of the methods and theory of anthropology to the analysis and solution of practical food problems.
I use food intersectionality as an analytic framework which attempts to identify how interlocking systems of power impact those who are most marginalized in society through:
- Food and gender
- Food and age
- Food and ethnicity
- Food and religious
- Food and class
- Food and body (disability, weight, for example)
